Good To Know
Frequently asked questions.
The practical stuff, answered. Can't find what you need? Ask us directly — we're happy to help you plan.
Do I need cash?
It's a good idea. Most established restaurants and attractions take cards, but plenty of the local gems — roadside produce stands, boiled peanuts, some trailhead parking, and small-town eats — are cash-friendly or cash-only. There are ATMs in Blairsville and Helen.
Where are good places to eat?
The mountain towns around the retreat each have their own flavor: Blairsville (~15 min) for easygoing local restaurants, Helen (30 min) for biergartens and Bavarian fare, Dahlonega (30 min) for its gold-rush square and tasting rooms, and Blue Ridge (~45 min) for boutique dining.
Ask us for our current favorites when you book — and see the Things To Do guide for more.
Where can I get groceries?
Blairsville, about 15 minutes away, is the closest town with full grocery stores — easiest to stock up on your way in. Every cabin has a fully equipped kitchen, and the lodge suites have mini-fridges, coffee bars, and microwaves.
What activities are nearby?
More than you can fit in one stay: waterfalls and Appalachian Trail hikes minutes away, whitewater rafting, zip lines, a mountain coaster, and a gold mine tour within about 30 minutes, plus mountain towns, wineries, and a spectacular fall leaf season viewed straight from the lodge firepits.
The full list — with drive times and map links — lives in our Things To Do guide.
Who has access to the game room?
Everyone! Every guest at the retreat has access to the game room — you'll receive a door code along with your booking information.
The MacKaye Conference Room is the one exception: it's a separate space that must be booked. Ask us if you'd like to add it to your stay.
